Why it matters

A dryer pushes hot, lint-filled air through a vent to the outside. Over time lint packs into that line. Restricted airflow makes the dryer run hotter and longer, and trapped lint is fuel for a fire.

A clear vent also dries clothes faster, which saves electricity or gas and puts less wear on the dryer.

How we clean a dryer vent

  1. Inspect

    We look at the dryer, the vent line and the outside cap before we start.

  2. Disconnect

    We disconnect the dryer and clean the connection behind it.

  3. Brush and vacuum

    Brushes and compressed air loosen lint along the whole line while a vacuum collects it.

  4. Clear the outside vent

    We clear the vent cap and remove any nests or debris.

  5. Reconnect and test

    We reconnect the dryer and check the airflow.

How often should a dryer vent be cleaned?

At least once a year. Large households, heavy laundry loads, pets and long vent runs may need it every six months.

How long does a cleaning take?

Most dryer vents take about an hour. Long runs, roof exits and heavy buildup can take longer.

What if my vent exits at the roof or a second story?

Tell us when you book. These exits take extra time, and we include that in your free quote before we start.

Can birds nest in a dryer vent?

Yes. Outside vent hoods are a common spot. A nest blocks airflow and can be a fire risk. We clear nests and debris from the vent and the cap.
